Why I'm building this

I'm Barry (barryc.ie). I live in Kildare, and I'm building this in my own time.

It started with wanting to find Irish gifts at Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions. Every time it was harder than it should be.

It isn't always easy to tell where something was made, and local makers are easy to miss. I wanted the choice to buy local when I could.

So I'm building the list I wanted: a hand-picked guide to people in Ireland who make or design gifts the people you give them to will love.

What I want it to be

• Trustworthy. Every maker is checked before they're listed, and everything you see here is made or designed in Ireland. See how we check.
• Good for local makers, small and not so small, so we can all do our bit to support them.
• Easy, not overwhelming. You'll never get a grid of 50 products. Find a few makers you love, then buy from them in their own shop.
• Free and private. This site sets no cookies of its own, and I only count visits in total, never personal details. See privacy.

I hope it grows into something bigger, but for now it's free, for you and for the makers. See how we make money.
